Hello friends! We are beaming with excitement as our "doors" open for the first time! Months of brainstorming, branding, designing, and research have culminated to this wonderful day.
To introduce ourselves, we are Sage Paper Co. and we believe that wisdom, love and grace are stronger when shared. We hope that our custom, digital and handmade paper goods help you share what brings meaning to your life. Who is "we", you ask? Sage Paper Co. is a partnership between Alexa Behar, watercolorist and lover of all things calligraphy, and Chelsea Rawson, digital artist and typography extraordinaire. Having met as graphic designers working side by side in the same workplace, we instantly became friends. Along with showing up to work wearing the same outfits and finishing each other's sentences, we found that we had a strong bond over simple and organic, yet compelling design. We decided to take our knowledge of design and focus on an industry we both adore: paper goods. Stop by our "about" page to learn more about us individually!
Many have asked where the name Sage Paper Co. came from. From the beginning, we have defined our brand with words such as organic, purposeful, and soft. We also felt that our name should have a deeper meaning than just "sounding pretty". Inspired by the book The Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh, we finally came across a name that felt like the perfect fit. The Language of Flowers chronicles the life of a young girl who has grown up in the foster care system. Due to unhealthy foster families and endless moves between group homes, Victoria struggles to socialize with others and verbalize her emotions. To make up for this, she finds an alternate way to communicate, ultimately making her feel safe and understood. Rather than using words, she uses flowers and herbs to share how she is feeling. Each plant means something different. Sage, for example, means wisdom and good health. Like plants were for Victoria, we hope that our paper goods will help you communicate in ways that may be difficult to share verbally. May our cards be a vehicle for telling others what they mean to you, our art prints be a way to share what matters most to you, and our wedding and baby products be an invitation for others to celebrate what brings meaning to your life.
After many Panera dates and countless hours gaining an understanding of how much work it takes to start our own small business, we are so proud to present Sage Paper Co. We sincerely appreciate your support and excitement for us on this great journey.
With love and grace,
A + C
